This will be a conference for industry by industry with many from the Association and allied partners contributing to the event. Plus, there are keynote speakers from outside the industry who will share their secrets to success.

Sir Gil Simpson, one of New Zealand's self made entrepreneurs and business visionary will speak about innovation and leadership, two areas where our industry could take advantage. Canterbury's netball coach, Helen Stroud and Tony Sewell Chief Executive of Ngai Tahu Property Ltd are also keynote speakers in their fields of expertise.

Diedre Graham of Kissing Frogs will present on “Employee Engagement” followed by an interactive workshop. “In New Zealand over 60% of employees are not engaged. Engagement has real business implications and can affect levels of absenteeism, customer service, inventory loss and overall profitability.”

Murray Sherwin the Director General of Agriculture will brief conference on current MAF and Biosecurity issues affecting our industry. We have the CEO from Nursery and Garden Industry Australia joining us and Peter Silcock from Hort NZ as we work on developing closer relationships with these organisations.

We will celebrate the annual industry awards - Scotts Innovation, the HortFert Young Achiever, NZ Gardener Marketing and Advertising and this year the Yates Garden Retailer of the Year with guest judge Peter Whitehead from Australia.

Conference starts at 8.30am on the Wednesday morning at Rydges Hotel. Arrive the day before and you can register early then enjoy a casual night out to dinner at the Belgian Beer Cafe. The conference officially finishes with the Awards Dinner on the Thursday evening at Christchurch’s Great Hall. On Friday, a tour of member retailers and nurseries will be available to round off the conference experience.
