Pip achieves third in the Young Hort Competition

Pip achieves third in the Young Hort Competition

Early in November I participated in the Young Horticulturist of the Year competition. The competition was full on, there was months of preparation before two days of events at Auckland Botanic Gardens.

One of the requirements was a written project on a nursery innovation. I’m sure for those that know me it would come as no surprise that mine was on a marketing plan to re launch conifers.

During the two days of competition we were required to give a 10 minute presentation on our innovation, partake in a variety of practical horticulture activities and give a 1 minute speech. It was a tiring couple of days, but a great experience. I was third for the innovation project and placed third overall.

I am amazed and very grateful for the support NGIA members gave me along the way.

Congratulations Pip, you’ve done really well and have been a great representative for the nursery and garden industry.
