April Board meeting report
April’s Board meeting proved highly productive, kicking off work surrounding
• NGIA’s strategy and business plan, to be previewed at conference and a major focus for the second half of the year.
• The three “new” Board members joined the meeting, and while their appointments are not active until July, early involvement will ensure they hit the ground running!
• Agreement that we’ll pursue an association with Horticulture New Zealand, extending considerably the expertise we can offer to NGIA members.
• Consideration of the work undertaken by the Horticultural ITO which highlighted the opportunity for NGIA to more actively engage with HITO.
• Pre-audit 2010 financials show improved performance over a range of areas.
• A review and desire to re-establish NGIA response to product stewardship and the “pause” button pushed on the GardenWise project.
• NGIA’s early thoughts on Government’s Biosecurity Joint Industry Agreements – this will be a big one!
Admin Manager title expanded to CEO
A resolution was put to the meeting that given the excellent work John Liddle was carrying out for the association and that he is representing the association at a renewed level with government and in many other aspects that his title needs to reflect his position. Therefore the motion to change his title from Administration Manager to Chief Executive Officer was carried unanimously. The Board is delighted with the response from everyone affected by the restructure last year and assures members that we now have a much leaner and productive office.
